The Father is a power, the Son is a power, and the Holy Ghost is a power. Now, they are of different persons. They have each one individual person. It is scriptural to say that they are different from each other. While we are surrounded by ideologies that say that they are only one person, there are those that preach that the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost are offices of the same person, there are those that claim that they are only one person, they call themselves oneness, and there are those that believe that they are only one, but there are three persons in one, and that is the doctrine of the Trinity of the Catholic Church. But those are all not scriptural teachings. Scripturally speaking, these three are powers. They are powers. The Father is a power, the Son is a power, and the Holy Ghost is a power.
Now, they are of different persons. They have each one individual person. Why do I believe that they are different from each other? Let us read in the book of Matthew chapter 3 verse 16 to 17. It says, “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water. And, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon him. And, lo, a voice from heaven saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” If you are going to study the scenario when the Lord Jesus Christ was baptized in Jordan by John the Baptist, you can clearly see the difference between the three. They are in different locations simultaneously in the same time. The Father cannot practice ventriloquism in that particular situation. Why? The Lord Jesus Christ was in the river Jordan with John. He does not speak at that time, and the Holy Spirit does not speak also. There was just a scenario that tells us that when the Lord Jesus Christ was baptized, He went straightway up out of the water. The heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him. Meaning, in between heaven and the river Jordan, the Holy Spirit was descending upon the Lord Jesus Christ. He saw the Holy Spirit coming from heaven. A spirit can see a spirit. Although, maybe John has not seen how it came from heaven and the heavens were opened, but the Lord Jesus Christ clearly saw the heavens were opened unto Him. The account did not tell us that the heavens were opened unto them, but the heavens were opened unto Him, to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him. So, the Spirit of God is different from the Son, because the Son is in the river Jordan with John the Baptist. Then the heavens were opened, and the Spirit of God descended, and it lighted upon the Lord Jesus Christ. And John saw the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove lighting upon Him. John saw that. John is a witness. And later, John told the evangelist what he saw. Let us read in the book of John 1, 32. And John bear record, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him.” Why is it necessary for John to say that I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove? Why did he liken it into dove? Because he cannot describe the Holy Spirit. He has not the capacity to see the Spirit. So, the Holy Spirit appeared unto John like a dove descending upon the Lord Jesus Christ. It descended, and it abode upon Him, according to John. So, we have now two persons, the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the Son of God in the river Jordan, and the Holy Spirit which came from heaven when the heavens were opened to the Lord Jesus Christ. He saw the Spirit of God lighting upon Him, and there was a witness to that. John also saw the Spirit, but it is like a dove.
For the Lord Jesus Christ, it did not appear like a dove. There are people who say, oh, the Holy Spirit is like a dove. If you are John, but if you are Christ, it’s not like a dove. The Holy Spirit does not have to take the form of a dove for the Lord Jesus Christ to see Him, because Jesus Christ can see spirits, but humans like John cannot. So, the Holy Spirit appeared unto John like a dove. So, it is different from the Lord Jesus Christ. He saw it descending from heaven. The Lord Jesus Christ saw it, and it abode upon Him, said John the Baptist. It lighted upon the Lord Jesus Christ. It abode on Him, and there was a voice from heaven saying, this is my beloved Son, that is the voice of the Father in heaven. So, the Father is in heaven while the Holy Spirit and the Lord Jesus Christ were in Jordan. You see that? So, there are three different persons. There are three distinct and different persons. The Lord Jesus Christ is in River Jordan, the same with the Holy Spirit which came from heaven and abode upon Him, but the Father is in heaven saying, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.
